Central heating system

A central heating system can be the main heat source for a warm comfortable place.
Signs that you need to replace your central heating system:

  • high heating bills
  • parts difficult to find
  • too many breakdowns
  • noisy boiler or radiators
  • yellow flame instead of blue
  • too many leaks

Once the installation is complete and you are satisfied with the work done, we will register your boiler with the manufacturer, to guarantee the warranty period, and with Gas Safe which is the official gas registration body, more information here https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/notifications/search-for-a-notification/
Always ask for the gas engineer ID card. Find out more about the gas safe identity card here https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/help-and-advice/understand-the-gas-safe-id-card/

Things to consider when getting a new central heating

It all depends on the type of property you have, your finance and your needs.
Our advice is to get a few quotes, read more about each type of boiler to know what to choose and why you want to make that choice. Talk to gas engineers and explain what you want or what you are after. Ask as many questions as you have, the more you know the better.
The types of boiler that gas engineers can install:

  • conventional boiler
  • system boiler
  • combination boiler

If your property is relatively small, conventional boiler might not be a good choice. The conventional boiler requires a water cylinder and a cold water tank, it sends hot water to all the taps without the pressure being lost.
The system boiler has the water supply coming straight from the mains and the important components like the expansion vessel and the pump are built in.

  • 24kw combi boiler – 1/2 bedroom apartment or small house
  • 30kw – 2/3 bedroom with one bathroom
  • 35kw – 3/4 bedrooms with 1 bathroom
  • 40kw – 3/4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms

Central heating installation is a complex and intensive job, includes fitting major components like the pipework throughout the premises, radiators, boiler, water storage tanks, expansion vessels, pump, control , thermostat radiator valves and other components.
Our gas engineers always use their knowledge and experience to give advice regarding the heating system requirements, system design, installation or upgrading.

How long does the installation take?

The central heating installation can take from 1 to several days.
It is not a straightforward answer since it depends on what type of boiler is installed. If it is a boiler swap, changing the old boiler with the same type of boiler but new, that can take 1-2 days. When the location of the boiler is changed, additional time is needed for the new pipework to be fitted.
System upgrade, when a new type of boiler is fitted, takes more time since the process is more complex, removing hot water cylinder and/or cold water storage tank, re-pipe.
Our surveyor or engineer can give you a more accurate time.

We value people and people value us!
